The Brass

Melodic Punk, Hardcore

Live with Lagwagon and Cigar at Wonder Ballroom November 29, 2023

Born from the embers of social and political unrest, The Brass are an amalgamation of equal parts grit, determination, and pure devotion to the Pacific Northwest and California landscape of sonic pursuit. The Brass have galvanized their expanding sound since 2014 into a formidable weapon with an emphasis on earnest, poignant working man’s sociopolitical lyrics, penned in the dark revelation of humanity’s current shackles and potential for the future, belted out by frontman Matt Forbes (former Five Good Reasons frontman) who brings a hellbound freight train delivery, emphasis, and natural swagger of attack to the mic. The Brass fuse classic skatepunk bangmanship with the earthy tenacity of resonate glacial darkness and harmony and despair, coated in the incendiary passion and inspiration of an authentic Seattle sound. Organized by Ryan Brodie (Unfallen Heroes and The Ballistics) who brought members of The Brass to the table over the years has provided a constant force of production, enthusiasm, and organization. Brodie’s craftsmanship behind the guitar and the coordination behind the curtain as the band’s captain has resulted in a culmination of characters and sounds that have organically blended over the years, such as Adam Martin (Stumblebum) commanding the four strings added the raw, visceral intuitive intertwining required to transform The Brass’ craft into an interweaved prong of laser beams of nuance and attack. Drummer Neil James hoists the bands dynamic to titular heights via speed, precision, and brilliance to charge up the battering ram force necessary to achieve maximum speeds, firmly in the pocket and ready to put a shiner on that ‘giner. Brian Rich Swan joined the band in the summer of 2023 completing the group’s cycle-hum, adding intricate co-led lead guitar duties to create the tandem lightening affect needed to fully flesh out the electric ballet of The Brass’ signature, deeply-immersive, pounding, penetrating, fully engorged sound. Woo, might need a cigarette after that one… Any way you spin it, the quintet of The Brass are thirsty to burst forth at a stage near you playing their favorites off of their debut 2016 EP “Armsreach” and their follow up 2020 full length album “Mob Neutrality”. The Brass are currently poised to release their upcoming full length record on No Pants Records in early 2024 and continue hitting the road to put the rage on stage.
